Mr. M. Ashwin Reddy is a consultant at Barts Health NHS Trust and Moorfields Eye Foundation Trust Hospital. Having graduated from Cambridge University, he undertook basic and higher surgical training in Leicester and East Anglia (Ipswich/Norwich/Cambridge) respectively. He completed a higher degree at the Institute of Ophthalmology, London on the molecular genetics of inherited cataracts. His interests are paediatric ophthalmology and retinoblastoma (children’s eye cancer) and he undertook further training at the Hospital Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. He has undertaken 11 years of post-graduate training and has been a consultant since 2004.
He leads the Paediatric Ophthalmology service at the Royal London Hospital (one of the largest children’s hospitals in London) and also leads the Retinoblastoma service in London (one of only two centres in the UK).
He is actively interested in teaching and teaches medical students in his role as Senior Lecturer Queen Mary College, London University. In addition, he has founded a course for paediatricians interested in children’s eye conditions.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, International member of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, member of the International Society of Genetic Disease and Retinoblastoma and member of the International Society of Ocular Oncology.
He has multiple peer reviewed articles in major ophthalmic journals and has an active interest in research. In addition, he has lectured around the world.
